OSWALD POHL (1892 – 1951) Head of the Economic Office of the SS and ultimate overseer of the concentration camp system. It was Pohl who turned his victims’ dental gold eyeglasses hair etc. into cash for the SS using the infamous ‘Max Heiliger’ Swiss accounts. Captured and executed in 1951. Berlin July 6 1943 to a ‘Kamrade Brand’ likely SS-Standartenfuhrer Hans Brand thanking him for a previously-sent gift adding: ‘…I had also liked to talk about your work again. Maybe again later!’. Signed boldly at bottom-right in blue ink. Two filing holes at left, else very good. Hans Brand (1879-1959) was an SS officer and geologist responsible for establishing the slave labor camp at Pottenstein and for the deportation to Theresienstadt of fellow scientist Benno Wolf
