HEINRICH HIMMLER/(1900 – 1945) Hitler’s Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman’s noose at Nuremburg. Fine association , ‘Field Command Post’, January, 1943, sent to Gen. FRANZ BOHME (1885-1947), an Austrian general, Commander of the XVIII Mountain Corps, Commanding General in the Balkans, and commander-in-chief in German-occupied Norway. Bohme was tried for the massacre of thousands of Serbian civilians and committed suicide in prison. Beneath a printed message sending thanks for Christmas and New Year’s wishes, Himmler adds a typed postscript asking that Bohme thank all of those who signed the greeting sent to him and hoping that the books and calendars he is sending will ‘…help you all pass the time a little…’. Signed: ‘Yours in comradeship, H. Himmler’.RARE
