MOABIT PRISONER DOCUMENT
Moabit Prison, built in 1842, was in the Nazi era a symbol of political oppression, torture and murder after the Wehrmacht and the Gestapo created more cell wings. After the surrender, it used by the Allies to imprison some of the Nazis who had been sentenced to death. Scarce arrest intake record, 1p. 10″ x 11″, “Moabit”, Berlin, May 5, 1939, for a woman brought to the prison directly from court after having been sharged with theft. Chipped at lower-right, else very good.
