DEATH SENTENCE IS APPEALED TO HITLER;
Typed by Gauamtsleiter ‘Dietrich’ on the letterhead of the Reichsstatthalter of Vienna, Vienna 28th June 1940 in German to an adjutant in Graz. The document relates to Otto Kortschak a defendant awaiting execution in Graz. In part: “In the above case I had a teleconference with the presiding judge whose Supreme Court had condemned Kortschak to death. Kortschak has turned to the Gauleiter with a request for the pardon which the Supreme Court has addressed to the Fuhrer…Since now 3 weeks have passed I ask again to forward the judgement…” On the reverse a typed reply notes: “A judgement decree will be sent again.” Two file holes to the left edge. Rust stain to the top left corner caused by a paperclip else very good.
