EDUARD DIETL FIELDPOST CARD MESSAGE,
EDUARD DIETL
(1890 – 1944) Nazi German general who participated in the Anschluss and attack on Poland, he is most remembered as the “Hero of Narvik” for which he received the first Oak Leaves of the war. Killed in an airplane crash with his corps commanders. T.N.S. on a “Feldpost” card, oblong Aug. 26, 1942, to a Dr. Reisch. Dietl thanks his correspondent for his congratulations, and signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding the salutation “Lieber Reisch!” and a postscript in his own hand. Shows a 1″ vertical tear at the bottom edge, not affecting the signature, with additional small tears and bumps to the bottom edge
