Peter Gemeinder was Ortsgruppenleiter der NSDAP in Frankfurt and since 1929 member of the Wiesbadener Kommunallandtages. He was elected as member of the Reichstag during the Reichstags elections of 1930.

On 9. January 1931, he became Gauleiter des NSDAP-Gaus Hessen-Darmstadt.

In September 1931 he had a heart attack during an election campaign rally due to which he died.

The SA and SS made a big event out of his funeral which the NSDAP used for political proliferation.

Gemeinder was one of the circa, 125 persons recognized as the founding fathers of the Third Reich.
